ANDREA PENNA: UNIVERSITY OF PAVIA, ITALY
Andrea Penna is Associate Professor of Structural Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of the University of Pavia since 2015.
After a post-doctoral fellowship in Structural Engineering at the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering of the University of Genoa, he has been Researcher at the European Centre for Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering, Pavia (2003-2011).
His research activity has been mainly addressed to seismic vulnerability of existing masonry structures and heritage buildings, and numerical nonlinear modelling of seismic structuralresponse. He has carried out research activities characterized by significant experimental campaigns on the in- and out-of-plane response of masonry infill walls in r.c. framestructures, in-plane cyclic response of full scale masonry piers, effectiveness of different strengthening solutions, and shaking table testing masonry buildings.
Since 2011, Andrea Penna has been a member of the Teaching Body of the Ph.D. Programme in Computational Mechanics and Advanced Materials of the IUSS of Pavia, in collaboration with the University of Pavia. Since 2014 he is member of the Teaching Body of the Ph.D. Programme in Civil Engineering and Architecture and since 2017 of the new Ph.D. Programme in Design, Modelling and Simulation in Engineering at the University of Pavia.
Andrea Penna participated to several of post-earthquake survey activities in Italy and other world countries (Pakistan, Chile).
